A few weeks ago I was invited to attend a workshop hosted by Midori Amae. For those of you that don't know Midori, She was a Fan favorite when she was a contestant on America's Next Top Model, and she participates in New York Fashion Week. At first, I honestly had no clue on what to expect when I was on my way there. Need to remind you, I am a print/ video model for Studio Center, but usually I'm hosting a gospel concert, a red carpet, or attending an event that is usually directed to the youth, or it is something that is musically involved.
Meet Midori Amae
When I got to the workshop instantly, I noticed Midori. She was a sitting in a chair prepping to start her workshop. I also could not help but notice what she was wearing. Midori had a very natural look. She had on a pair of distressed skinny jeans, a black pair of open toed Calvin Klein Heels, a black t-shirt that said "#prayandslay", and no makeup, but a tad of lipstick on. I was so shocked because I thought that since it was her workshop, that she would have been beyond made up, and that she would be wearing an "all the rage" outfit. But as time went on, I realized that she was a professional model, and that is the look that models usually go for. Not only is that the only look that models go for, however that's how clients prefer their models. They want to see you in your natural state, so that they can see if they can alter you into their vision. I always wondered why my agency always told me to not to get but so dressed up, and to wear little makeup when I would go out to my auditions, So it finally made sense to me.
In the workshop, we basically went over the model industry. It was pretty much what I expected with my experience in the industry, and from watching America's Next Top Model. Later in the workshop, we walked and worked on our facials as models. I was intrigued by her facials, and her slogan "#prayandslay", Considering that I have a career in gospel, and a firm believer in faith, her slogan really inspired me. She believes that we should pray in anything that we aspire to do, and slay at everything we aspire to do.
Here, I will share my thoughts on certain topics or whatever is in my heart. .
